With swabs, 306 fecal samples were collected from the rectal mucosa of sheep and cattle (male and female, various ages) at a slaughterhouse in Kırıkkale, Turkey between March 2003 and September 2004. In all, 130 E. coli strains isolated from the fecal samples were evaluated for antibiotic resistance, verotoxin production, and hemolyzation.
