Fiftymaleandfemalespecific-pathogen-free(SPF)one-day-oldLeghornchickswereobtained. Theywererandomlyassignedtofiveexperimentgroups.Thefirstisolator(A)contained20ceftiofur-treatedbirds,ofwhichtenwereinoculatedwithE.coli369(inoculatedtreatedgroup(IT))andtenkeptasnon-inoculatedcontactbirds(contacttreatedgroup(CT)).
