Veterinary Journal (2003)
Calves from 15 farms with a current outbreak of enteritis (case farms) and nine farms with no known current cases of diarrhoea (control farms) were sampled. A total of 101 samples, one from each calf, and ranging from one to nine from each farm were collected by the veterinary surgeon. A questionnaire regarding management practices, including the type and size of farm, housing, source of animals, hygiene, and the choice and use of antibiotics was also completed.
Faecal samples were collected from farms in the Highlands of Scotland by local veterinary practices.
