Specimens were collected from 137 commercial turkeys, located at several commercial-raising facilities near Gonzales, Texas, ranging in age from 1 to 30 weeks.

Cloacal swabs were collected and maintained in transport medium during transit to the laboratory at Texas A&M University. Samples were processed within 24 hours of collection. Swabs were streaked onto MacConkey agar plates supplemented with gentamicin (20 µg/ml).
