Data onantimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial consumption, and pig herd demographics were obtained from dif-ferent Danish surveillance programs (VetStat). The number of slaughter pigs in each herd wascalculated using data from the Danish Ser-ological Salmonella Surveillance Program on pigs. The other key source of information usedby this study was the Danish Integrated Anti-microbial Resistance Monitoring and ResearchProgramme. For pigs,cecal contents are collected by meat inspectionstaff at the slaughterhouses and submitted forisolation and susceptibility testing. Only onesample per herd is collected in any samplingoccasion. Resistance data from indicator E. coli isolates from pigherds in Denmark were analyzed for this study.
